I've chosen to give away one of my favorite necklaces in the shop:
(featuring beautiful antique silver sparrow charm and turquoise)
This hymn has been quite an anthem for me over the past few months. This past year so far has pretty much been the hardest period in my life personally. I've been pushed to my limits. I've struggled with bouts of depression. And I've cried out to God, feeling like at times He's forgotten me. Sometimes, I am learning, we have to keep on keeping on, even when we can't feel His presence. Even when we don't understand His ways. And simply trust our loving Heavenly Father. Who watches over us. Who cares for us.
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heav’n and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Aren't the other verses amazing, too? That whole song is my prayer for this coming year, my 37th year. I pray that I would walk in the truth of those words. I want to be free. I want to be happy. I want to rest in the truth that God is ever-watching me and taking care of me and my family.

Happy 'early' birthday dear friend!!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet to celebrate with a giveaway.
This is what jumped out at me this morning:
"For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit, and with deep conviction." 1 Thess 1:4-5
I'm really seeing how words are meaningless without the power of God and obedience to action behind them
The verses that have helped me the most when I struggle with depression are:New Living Translation (©2007)
ReplyDeleteWhen you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.
English Standard Version (©2001)
For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”
English Standard Version (©2001)
fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday, mine was Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteExodus 14:14 "The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still." Since Dave died, I've relied on this verse time and time again when dealing with corporate and government employees.
Love your necklace...beautiful!
As I have been learning to be at peace in trusting and waiting these words keep flowing to the old song... "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you..."
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday friend!
Happy Birthday! Lately, Proverbs 15"1 has struck a chord with me: " A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." I am guilty, but with the Lord's help, there is hope for me!
