one of my favorite things

Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial's Day. Clint was home for the first half of the day, so we made the most of it and had a big lunch together with the kiddos. Clint grilled some barbeque ribs (yum!) and cheeseburgers.

And I made one of my favorite things: strawberry shortcake!

Since I am trying to stay disciplined in my eating (I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting on Saturday!), I made a low fat version that was just as delicious, but only 2 points!  I found these little angel food dessert "bowls" at the grocery store yesterday for $1.50. They were perfect for piling strawberries and light whipped cream on top of. (And the package only had 6 in them, which I liked, because there was just enough for everyone to have one. That way, I wouldn't be tempted to eat more later.)

yummy!!

Did you do anything special yesterday? I'd love to hear about it!

You might have noticed my blog looks a bit different. I worked on it yesterday afternoon. Do you like the new format? Hope so! I wanted it to look cleaner, simpler, and I wanted the option of making my photos bigger. I am happy with it. :)

Oh, and one more thing - I am extending my Memorial Day Sale in the shop for one more day. Use the coupon code "MEMORIALDAY" at checkout to receive 15% off your order (not incl. shipping). Sale ends midnight tonight. If you've had your eye on something, now's the time to snatch it up! (you know I love sales!)

  1. I like how everything on the page seems to pop now.

We've been eating strawberry shortcake a lot lately. Saturday my grandkids and I used my grandma's yellow cake recipe and put it in little muffin pans. They were so good.

  2. My dessert yesterday looked very similar, except I made angel food cake from a mix. It tastes AMAZING!! The box cost about $2.50, but it is worth every penny. I then pureed some strawberries to make a sauce, and then topped with homemade whip cream. Delish! Do you remember buying an angel food cake and covering it with Cool-Whip and strawberries when we lived together?
Oh, and the blog looks great!

  3. My mom and I used to make that exact same dessert together! I can't believe it's only 2 points. Yummm. I had intentions on making some rhubarb dessert yesterday but I never got around to it!
